How Tidying Up Your Website and Social Media Accounts Can Maximise Your Online Presence
In the day-to-day life of running a small business, it can be easy to let things slip. Having an audit and tidy-up of your website and social media accounts can make your brand much more appealing to existing and potential customers. Here’s a list of some things to look out for:

1 - Dead Links
No one appreciates a link leading to missing content, a dead end, or an error page. It's important to review your website, blog entries, and social media posts, particularly those highlighted or pinned on your profile, and update or remove any dead links.
2 - Broken Images
Nothing gives the impression of an abandoned website more than a page with broken images. Maybe they were pointing to external images that are no longer available, or maybe the image has been removed from your server. Either way, sorting out broken images is a quick and very useful fix.
3 - Out Of Date Content
If your content has been unchanged for some time, it may start to feel stale or outdated. Either tweak the content to make it up-to-date or remove it if it is no longer relevant.
4 - Usernames
Make sure your usernames are consistent across networks, and logos and avatars are up to date with your branding. It may be worth checking if the perfect username that you wanted but couldn't get a while ago is now available.
5 - SEO
Use tools like Google Search Console to check how your website appears to search engines and what people who come to your site were searching for. You might be surprised at what works for search and what doesn’t, and sometimes small tweaks to the content of your website can have positive results.
6 - AI Visibility
Artificial Intelligence is becoming increasingly important in promoting your brand online. In the same way as you can check how your website appears in search, tools such as Wix's AI Visibility Overview can give you an insight into how your brand appears to people using AI agents. A simple change, such as adding an FAQ section to your website, can make your brand more accessible to AI.
7 - A Fresh Pair Of Eyes
Get someone who is unfamiliar with your website and brand to have a browse and give you some feedback. This process can be incredibly valuable, as it provides insights that you may not have considered before. An outsider's perspective can highlight aspects of your site that are either confusing or particularly appealing, which you might overlook due to your familiarity with your own content and layout. They may pick up on some small changes that are easy to implement.
8 - Branding
Check that you have kept consistent with your brand logo, colours and fonts throughout your website and social media accounts.
9 - Legal
Check that the terms and conditions and privacy policy displayed on your website are compliant with the current regulations.
10 - Contact Details
Basic, but important and so often forgotten. Check that your phone number and address displayed on your website are up to date. Try your contact form and make sure it works correctly and is connected to the right email address.
A website and social media presence with consistent branding, free of dead links and images, and full of refreshed content signal professionalism, foster trust with your audience, and can position your brand as an industry leader. Making sure you take care of the little things can make a big difference.
