Get Your Band a .band

Choosing a domain name for your band's website can be challenging. If you're having a difficult time deciding on a name you like that is also available, it may be worth considering a different top-level domain, or TLD. A TLD is the extension at the end of a web address, following the last dot, such as the .com in google.com. There are hundreds of TLDs, including one specifically created for musical bands: .band.

The .band TLD was introduced along with others, such as .live and .photo, to expand the options for individuals and companies looking to register domain names. These TLDs work the same way as more traditional ones, and Google says that they are just as important for search engines. Unlike some exclusive music-related TLDs, .band is open to anyone and you do not need to pass a verification processes to register.

If your band name is unique enough that the .com TLD is available (here’s looking at you bowlingforsoup.com and pigsx7.com), then go for that. If the specific .com TLD for your band is not available, then you could add a suffix or prefix to your domain name, such as oasisinet.com or wearepalace.com.

However, if you want to keep the domain name simple and catchy, a .band TLD would be a great choice. Examples of this are pva.band, wednesday.band and spangled.band.

A unique .band domain gives you website an instant niche recognition and is easy for fans to remember. Users will know it's for your band and your music right away.
